She wasn’t that unusual for
someone her age except that many considered her to be extra hyper because she didn’t
seem to have the ability to sit still or stop “running in circles”. Although
medicine might have helped her it was never used to calm her down enough to be
in public places. So, often she didn’t go out.
Even in her own home she was
seen as odd by those who loved her. Her actions often times brought
embarrassment and frustrations to those she lived with. All of the correction
and instruction seemed to be tossed aside as she seemed to ignore those who
tried to steer her in the right direction using correction and other forms of
discipline.
Everywhere she went she
brought those around her to anger as they watched her leave a trail of
destruction as she made her way through this world. And so several times she
was tossed out of her home and put up for adoption. She was rejected and tossed
aside basically because she didn’t seem to fit in and because, quite frankly,
she seemed to be disposable and unwanted.
By the time that Chris had
met her in Yolo
County, California, she had already been
in and out of three different homes. People had actually taken her into her
homes only to take her back to the agency where they adopted her, simply
because she was a handful.
But Chris saw something in
this youngster. He was able to see beyond who she was at this moment to who she
could become; perhaps even who she was made to be. Chris saw in her potential
that no one else had seen before. Chris knew that it would be work, but with
the right amount of love and discipline, even this young Jack could be nurtured
into someone whose gifting and uniqueness would one day be seen.
Either way, Chris was
determined that Jack deserved a place to live; a place in which Jack could be
loved. And so Chris adopted Jack and brought her home to join him and his wife
Suhey’s growing family. It was a family whose household knew the value of
adoption and eagerly welcomed Jack into their home to join the rest of the
family.
But, very soon, Chris and
Suhey understood why so many others had given up on Jack! They came to realize
that it would take time to train up this young one whose past was filled with
poor training. And, in time, with MUCH patience, correction, and love by Chris and
Suhey Jack started coming around.
Soon, Jack was following
directions and even joined her family’s business; “Stunt Dog Productions”,
which is a family owned business led by Chris and Suhey Perondi. In fact I
first met her last week as she was with her family traveling across the USA
performing at local State Fairs. She has grown into a beautiful girl who loves
skateboarding and whose excessive energy is actually one of the assets to who
she is and what she does for a living. It is as though she has finally found
her purpose in life.
You see, Jacquelyn is a Jack Russell
Terrier Mix, who has been renamed “Crazy
Confetti”.
But as I was listening to
Chris talk about how this dog had gone from being rejected to finding out what
she was actually made to do, I thought about how many people have stories that
relate to this dog’s story.
How the God of this Universe
sent His only Son Jesus to die on a cross so that we could live a life in
eternity as well as a life TODAY that is full of purpose. He came and adopted
us and called us sons and daughters and revealed that our flaws were actually
what made us great and even valuable. What others had seen as rejectable in our
lives, God saw as precious and was willing to pay a tremendous price to
purchase us. His bench mark was not the same as what others use to judge worth.
Do you know this God? You can
today. He wants to know you and have you no longer be tossed aside, going from
place to place. He wants you to know Him.
The first step is committing
your life to God through Jesus Christ; you can do that right now.
Simply put; “if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe
in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For
with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession
is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him
will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and
Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever
calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.” (Romans 10:9-13)
My friend, your story isn’t over yet! My guess is that His plans are so much better
than what you would have ever thought or planned. Let Jesus Christ change your
story for HIS-story. The best is yet to come!
