As you browse the Internet,
everything you view is saved to the cache on your computer. Using cache helps
everything load faster because data comes from your hard drive instead of a
server in a different part of the world. To conserve hard drive space or keep
your browsing private, you can clear or delete the history (cache).
When you visit any sites they
are stored in a temp file in the cache.
History is just really a bookmarking system for your own reference, kind of like
favorites but for sites you have visited.
Your
searches and browsing activity are saved in your Web & App Activity when
it's turned on. Thus you are in control
of what's saved, and you can delete it or turn the setting off whenever you
like.
But, if a friend asks to
borrow your Smartphone to search for something on the web, you probably don’t
want any of your private search queries displaying in the auto-complete area
when they start typing in their search terms. The same is also true if you have
a tablet, laptop, or desktop computer.
It is really easy to remove
search items from your web browser's cache and search history. When the “Remove
from search history” dialog box displays, you simply touch the “OK.” button. In
a click of a mouse button, all searches are wiped away! All is cleared and
cleaned up again; pretty simple.
But what you may fail to
realize is that behind that simple action; there is someone who paid a
tremendous price to make that happen. Countless hours of designing and thinking
and writing went into creating that simple action. A countless amount of time
was spent away from family and friends as the computer programmer “gave his
life” so to speak to make this simple action work.
When we sin, we too have a “cache”
or “history” that stores everything. All your activities are saved in
your whole life’s activities and the Bible tells us that we have to give an
account for it:
“For we must
all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the
things done in the body,
according to what he has done, whether good or bad. (2 Corinthians 5:10)
“And there is no
creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” (Hebrews 4:13)
But
the good news is that you do have some control of what's saved, and you can
delete it or turn the setting off whenever you like. You simply need to confess
your sin and ask for forgiveness
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and
just to forgive us our sins and
to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
In fact, God calls us to talk
to Him about cleaning up our history/cache:
“Come now,
and let us reason together,” Says the Lord,
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be as wool.” (Isaiah 1:18)
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be as wool.” (Isaiah 1:18)
But what you may fail to
realize is that behind that simple action; there is someone who paid a tremendous
price to make that happen. A countless hours of designing and thinking and
writing went into creating that simple action. Countless amount of time was
spent away from family (who misunderstood and rejected Him) and friends as the
greatest “programmer” who ever lived literally gave His life to make this “simple”
action work. And His name is Jesus.
“But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.” (Hebrews 2:9)
“For
Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might
bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by
the Spirit” (1 Peter 3:18)
This “programmer”, Jesus paid the ultimate
price by His death, burial, and resurrection so that we can confess our sin and
have it erased from the cache and the history is gone! Jesus wiped it out by
nailing it to the cross:
“Buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.” (Colossians 2:11-16)
So, how do
we clear our cache?
“Seeing then that we
have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of
God, let us hold fast our
confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our
weaknesses, but was in all points
tempted as we are, yet without
sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain
mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:14-16)
“For the Lord is our Judge,
The Lord is our Lawgiver,
The Lord is our King;
He will save us” (Isaiah 33:22)
The Lord is our Lawgiver,
The Lord is our King;
He will save us” (Isaiah 33:22)
“Repent
therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of
refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send Jesus
Christ, who was preached to you before, whom heaven must receive until the
times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all
His holy prophets since the world began.” (Acts 3:19-21)
